Ten things a good Raleigh hauler should be able to give you
Choosing a junk removal company should take about five minutes, not an afternoon of phone calls. There are ten things worth checking, every one of them answerable before anyone drives to your address. Here they are, with our answer to each one published alongside so you can hold us to it.
1. A published price you can read before you call
The single best filter. A company that will show you its numbers in advance is a company that has already decided what your job costs. Ours are on this page, on our Raleigh pricing page, and inside the quote form. A sofa is $126. A refrigerator is $164. A queen mattress is $103, or $143 with the box spring. Nothing there changes because you live in Cary rather than Garner.
| Item | Flat price, disposal included |
|---|---|
| Sofa | $126 |
| Loveseat | $119 |
| Armchair | $77 |
| Sectional, 3 pieces | $185 |
| Queen mattress | $103 |
| Mattress + box spring set | $143 |
| Dresser, large | $148 |
| Refrigerator | $164 |
| Washer | $133 |
| Dryer | $128 |
| Treadmill | $115 |
| TV, 42–65" | $68 |
| Single bag or box of household junk | $35 |
Minimum booking in Raleigh is $75.
2. The price is fixed before we set off
You describe what is going, you see a figure, and that figure is what you pay. There is no doorstep renegotiation, no "let me take a look first", no number that grows once the truck is in your driveway. If you add something on the day, it is priced from the same published list, the new total goes to your phone, and you approve it before it goes on the truck.
3. No surcharge for stairs, floors or carry distance
This is where a lot of quotes quietly go sideways. Ours do not. A third-floor walk-up costs the same as a ground-floor garage. A long carry down a driveway costs the same as a piece sitting by the kerb. We do not add for floor level, stairs, distance to the truck, or the hill your street sits on. The number you were quoted is the number, whatever the building does.
4. Disposal is inside the price
Ask any hauler whether the disposal fee is included, because a headline rate with the tip charge bolted on afterwards is not really a price. Every figure we publish covers the labour, the truck, the drive and the disposal. No fuel line, no environmental fee, no recycling surcharge, no per-item add-on at the end.
5. Insured, with a certificate on request
JunkRabbit LLC carries commercial general liability at $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, an umbrella above it at $2 million per occurrence and $5 million aggregate, and workers' compensation. If your building, HOA or managing agent needs a certificate of insurance naming them, we issue it at no charge and it does not take days. If they have a required form of words, send it over and it goes on the certificate.
6. Can they come today?
Same-day and next-day are ordinary here, not an emergency service with an emergency price. There is no premium for booking today, no weekend rate and no rush fee. If a slot is open, you take it at the same figure as any other day.
7. A quote in about a minute, no site visit
You should not have to book an appointment to find out what an appointment costs. Describe the load in plain English — "a sofa, two nightstands and about ten bags from the garage" — and a real total comes back in roughly a minute. No walkthrough, no sales visit, no waiting for a callback.
8. Condition should not change the price
Broken, stained, water-damaged, sun-faded, missing a leg: same price as pristine. We price the space an item takes on the truck, not its resale value. Nobody is going to arrive and reprice your sofa because the cushions are worn.
9. Whole-room and whole-house jobs, priced by the space they fill
When the list gets long, we price the smallest truck share that holds it. Those shares are flat too, and they include everything: labour, loading, driving and disposal.
| Truck share | Flat price | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|
| 4 cubic yards | $241 | A small bedroom or a corner of a garage |
| 6 cubic yards | $338 | A furnished bedroom, or a heavy garage clear-out |
| 8 cubic yards | $431 | A living room or a two-car garage |
| 10 cubic yards | $513 | A one-bedroom apartment |
| 12 cubic yards | $587 | A large basement or bonus room |
| 14 cubic yards | $661 | A two-bedroom clear-out |
| 16 cubic yards | $732 | A full house clearance |
10. Do they actually serve your address?
We cover Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Durham, Chapel Hill, Wake Forest, Garner, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Morrisville, Knightdale and the rest of the Triangle, at the same published prices in every one of them. Suburban and HOA neighbourhoods are routine work for us — there is more on how those jobs run on our Cary and Apex page.
How to compare two quotes properly
Get both in the same form: the same list of items, sent the same way, in writing, before anyone visits. A written figure against a named list is comparable. A number somebody says while standing in your garage is not. Ask both companies whether stairs, distance and disposal are inside the figure, and whether the price can move on the day.
What you pay for, and when
You book against a total you have already seen and you pay through the booking. No cash-on-arrival, no deposit for a same-week job, no invoice that arrives later with something extra on it.
You only have to lift the phone
We do the carrying, the loading, the driving and the disposal. You point at the pile. If you want a sense of what neighbours in the Triangle typically spend, our page on what Raleigh residents actually pay walks through real job shapes.

A good hauler tells you the price before they drive, keeps it flat when they arrive, and includes the disposal. That is exactly how we work: published prices, no stairs charge, no distance charge, no same-day premium, disposal in every figure, and a $75 minimum in Raleigh. Frequently asked questions
how do i choose a junk removal company in raleigh
Check three things and you have covered most of it. Is the price flat and fixed before they set off? Is disposal included in that figure? Is there any extra for stairs, floors or carry distance? Our answers are yes, yes and no. Our prices are published in advance, so you can compare before you call anyone. Describe your load and you will have a real total in about a minute.
how much does it cost to remove a couch in raleigh
A sofa is $126, flat, with disposal included. A loveseat is $119, an armchair $77, and a three-piece sectional $185. Nothing is added for stairs, a third-floor walk-up or a long carry down the driveway, and the condition of the piece does not change the price. Raleigh minimum booking is $75. Add it to a quote and the total is fixed before we drive.
Do you charge extra for stairs or a walk-up?
No. There is no surcharge for floor level, stairs, carry distance, hills or neighbourhood anywhere in the Triangle. A third-floor apartment costs the same as a ground-floor garage, and a piece at the back of the house costs the same as one at the kerb. The figure you approve is the figure you pay, which is why it is worth getting your quote before booking anyone.
Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building or HOA?
Yes, at no charge, and it does not take days. JunkRabbit LLC carries commercial general liability at $1M per occurrence and $2M aggregate, a $2M/$5M umbrella above it, and workers' compensation. If your managing agent has a required form of words, send it over and it goes on the certificate. Send us the request when you book and it is handled before the crew arrives.
is same day junk removal more expensive in raleigh
Not with us. Same-day and next-day slots are ordinary, and they carry no rush fee, no weekend rate and no premium of any kind. If a slot is open, you get it at exactly the price shown for any other day. Describe what is going, pick the earliest time that suits you, and the total is locked in before we set off.
What is included in the price?
Everything: the labour, the truck, the loading, the drive and the disposal. There is no separate fuel line, tip fee, environmental fee or recycling surcharge, and no per-item add-on at the end. Whole-room jobs are priced on the smallest truck share that holds them, from $241 at 4 cubic yards to $732 for a full 16. One number, agreed up front.
